While everyone in Dallas is most likely watching  Rihanna and Jim Parsons arrive on the red carpet for DreamWorks premiere of Home tonight, I’m enjoying a carpet premier of another kind.

Kindness comes in many colors and there’s nothing like coming home to a St. Patty’s Day act of kindness.

Today Mr. Sanchez, a landscaper and total stranger, mowed my lawn – just because. Well sort of.

The downpour of March’s snow showers  left my well manicured lawn overgrown and disorderly. My lawn should have been reported to the lawn and order society, but thankfully grace intervened.

Maybe Mr. Sanchez  felt embarrassed for my weeds and hedges, or perhaps he is a marketing genius? Either way, Mr. Sanchez did for free what traditional companies would have charged a lot for.

His gesture was shocking, yet it brought so much joy to my life. Could I afford to have my lawn mowed, of course. But life had gotten in the way, and Mr. Sanchez’s gesture brighten my day more than words could ever say.

Often times, people think you need a lot of green to make a difference, but that bite of info is oh so wrong.

Just look at Cheryl Jackson, the founder of Minnie’s Food Pantry, a charitable organization with a mission to eliminate hunger and provide families with healthy meals. Jackson started the pantry with food from her own kitchen in 2008.

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, feed just one,” Jackson said.

Rihanna, Steve Martin and Jim Parsons appeared on “Good Morning America” and told  Jackson, she would get a red carpet premiere of their new movie in her hometown of Plano, Texas.

Jackson has fed over 200,000 with only four employees.  No matter where your home may be, no matter what resources you have,  it only takes a little to do a lot. God has equipped each of us with special talents to help others.  But most importantly, you must be willing to open your heart, dig deep, and search for the numerous opportunities he gives us each day.

Despise not the days of small beginnings” Zechariah 4:10  Now what opportunity for kindness will you maximize this week?
