How To Rock Any Runway

Are you ready for your fashionable road block this week?

Seeds of greatness start with hard work! “b the first to arrive and the last to leave!” Diane von Furstenberg

“This is an open door. This is an opportunity. Now what will you do with this moment? You have two choices, take advantage of it or give it away!” First Lady Michelle Obama

Our Bites of Style Word of the day is  Hindrance: a thing that provides resistance, delay, or obstruction to something or someone.

No one likes to leave home naked, right? Well the first time I met  First Lady Michelle Obama I was NAKED! Why, you might ask? Well, there’s the secret service check in, which took forever, by the way. Then there was the hour and a half drive it took to arrive at  the mysterious location in the early hours of the morning- 4 a.m to be exact.  So since there was no time for makeup,  I left  my house with a naked face.

Now having left my home naked wasn’t the end of the world.  But since I planned on asking the First Lady for a photo-op, I would’ve loved a little foundation for the dark circles under my eyes. But life goes on! And do you know why?  Because God had opened a door for me.

A door that allowed myself to be the only fashion journalist in a room with the likes of the media elite. I’m talking about the Wall Street Journal, U. S. Today, and the New York Times.  This door had granted me favour and access to a new  journalistic world.  This was a door that I couldn’t buy my way into.  This door wasn’t about who I knew. This door was a  magnificent dream come true. And I wasn’t about to blow it by being late over my FACE. Now that would have been a nitemare.

Often times we ask God for opportunities but then we back down if things don’t work out how we imagined them to be.  But instead, we should focus on the promises of God and move forward no matter what distractions come our way.

“‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Revelation 3:8

Now, what are you willing to give up this week for a new opportunity? Don’t miss your opportunity to walk on a new runway this week!
