Our Bites of Style Word of the Day is Gift and Love
1. Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation. 2. The act, right, or power of giving. 3. A talent, endowment, aptitude, or inclination.
A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness. 2 A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person
God is LOVE.. God’s words are a gift to us. This Bible passage sums up my thoughts on the Bites of Style words for the day.
Gifts and Love.
1. Love each and every gift.. Every body part.. Every moment of every day, is truly a gift from God.
1 Corinthians 12: 15-25
15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
The Greatest Gift
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whetherthere are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Valentines Day Gifts On A Budget.
Most people want to provide gifts with meaning, but what happens when you run out of time.
Last night, I was stuck trying to find the perfect V-Day gift for my sons teachers.. The list of options at the local drugstores are endless. I am a crafty-frugal mom, but since I was covering MBFW, I nearly forgot about V-Day.
I consider a few different options for teacher gifts-(healthy options)
- Candy- (NO) I am sure they will get plenty of candy from students- ( it’s cheap and available everywhere)
- Flowers- (NO) Maybe hand each of them a rose, daisy or tulip- wrapped in tissue paper ( great idea, but what if they die) Maybe a potted plant- Well the 10 plants would probably turnover before we got them to school -I am not the best driver, just saying.
- V-Day stationery This would be cute, but what if it’s never used. The stationary I found was pretty, only cost one-dollar, but was very small. Who needs more junk.
- $5 Gift cards to a Starbucks- Great idea, but my son has 7 teachers.( this can be expensive)
Most of us, want to give others our best, but we can’t always afford it. Then it hit me.. Tulips are nice( my favorite flower), but they die in a few days.. So instead I bought gorgeous Caspri TULIP Thank You cards and Two Leaves Whole Leaf Tea. I love tea and this tea is the best. Hands down. The tea also comes in cute, clear individual packages.. Perfect for a gift.

Note cards- Local grocery store $10 for 15 cards.
Total = 15 great gifts for $2 or less
