Oscar Party Tonight in DFW

Looking for an Oscar watching party? Well here are a few great events in Dallas and Fort Worth!

Walk the red carpet at the Modern beginning at 6:00 PM, where DFW.com’s crack team of entertainment junkies will be on hand to talk about the nominated movies and to tell you if your outfit is worthy of a nomination. Beginning at 7:00 PM, the Oscar broadcast will be shown live via satellite in Café Modern and in the Modern’s auditorium. Throughout the evening, we’ll also have a viewing screen in the Modern Lobby with light snacks and drinks available for purchase, and fabulous prizes handed out during the commercial breaks!

No advanced tickets needed this year. Auditorium seating will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Dallas Morning News movie critic Chris Vognar will this year emcee Dallas’ only official big-screen Oscar-watching party, hosted by the USA Film Festival. It’s one of 49 telecasts nationwide that have been sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Tickets include an official poster and commemorative program book, dinner from Studio Movie Grill, Sofia sparkling wine from Francis Ford Coppola Winery and desserts by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Guests can bid in a live auction featuring movie memorabilia. Cocktail attire or jammies preferred. Proceeds from the event go to arts-in-education programs for Dallas school district students and educators.

Feb. 26 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Studio Movie Grill, 11170 N. Central Expressway, Dallas. Doors open at 6; telecast begins at 7. $45-$75. For tickets, contact the festival at usafilmfest@aol.com. 214-821-6300. usafilmfestival.com.
