Tis the season for shorts swimsuits and bikini’s . It’s summer and there’s no escaping the heat. Working out can be a headache, but in order to sport this summer’s hottest fashions you must keep those workouts going strong.  Winter will be here eventually, but honestly it’s really a long, long, time away…  Wish there was a better way to get in shape?  Now there is.  No more wasted time or boredom. This  spring  I tried a workout at Koko Fit Club for a month for a work  related article. I loved the program so much I continued  for an additional two months.

I don’t have a lot of time, and in 30 minutes, Koko gave me an EXCELLENT workout.  Koko is a terrific fusion of advanced technology and world-class personal training.  The Koko Smart Training system removes all the obstacles that can keep you from achieving your fitness goals.  Their patented system customized each workout to your stated fitness level and personal goals. The Koko system explains each workout, demonstrates, guides and coaches you, to achieve optimal movement each step of the way. The staff at the Southlake and Fort Worth, Texas locations I visited where also some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They always greeted you with a smile and encourage you while working out.

Here are the highlights

How Often & Hours:  Three -30 minute personal training sessions a week and three to five- 15 minute cardio sessions a week. Koko FitClubs are open during normal work hours such as  9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but offer an after hours key card that allows you access 24 hours a day. This really gives you an opportunity to get your workout in anytime of day. One time I didn’t have my workout clothes, so I did the workout in my office clothes. I just took off my heels and did the workout. No cardio of course, but you get my point.

Variety: When  you work out you can choose a different program for the elliptical and treadmill. Cardio workouts include: bootcamp, stair climbing, skiing, 3 protocol, 3 series, and many more. All workouts are done at scenic locations such as the Harvard steps, or a mountain in Colorado which helps keep you energized. I noticed some clients doing 2 cardio sessions to get in that extra burn, but one is really all you need.

Diet:While your working out fitness guru and founder, Michael Wood  coach’s you through the challenging inclines with tips on eating, metabolism, and diets. He strongly discourages diets and gives helpful tips to avoid late night eating. Koko does offer protein supplements and vitamins, but the staff doesn’t push you to try them which is great. They are there as an added bonus if you want to take your program to the next level. I didn’t try any of the protein supplements.

Locations & Cost: With over 40 plus locations, Koko FitClubs are popping up everywhere. You can do a month to month plan or sign a year contract similar to a gym membership. I have tried to resume 15 minute cardio sessions on the road, but it’s just not the same.   Koko prices vary just like normal gyms, but on average the month to month cost is less than a yoga membership, and similar to the cost of one personal training session at your local gym. The joining fee and first month normally run you around $80-$160. Koko FitClub also does lot’s of specials, so be on the look out for these as well.

Tip: Koko often runs new member specials and coupons on Groupon.

Results and Overview: In  three months time I  lost 9 lbs, and  noticed a huge improvement in my cardio level. I also spoke to members who had lost 15, 20, and 50 lbs in 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months.   I began seeing definition in my shoulders and legs, along with improving my cardio. Although I got as many workouts in as possible I didn’t get in the recommend 3 to 5 sessions of cardio. Koko FitClubs are also very quiet. There are no tv’s as they feel this is a distraction, but there is music. Within two weeks I began to enjoy and look forwarded to the peace and quiet associated with my workout.

Back to our first topic of summer clothing:  In order to help with a little motivation I have an awesome giveaway
