Mark your calendars for October 14th for the One Arts Plaza Fall Block Party in Dallas. Fall is my favorite time of year mainly for the cooler temps, but also for the fun celebrations. The Fall Block Party is one of my favorite events of the Dallas Fall season. There will be seventeen local food and gift vendors, such as The Feather Junkie, Kruffles Dallas, Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters, Pop Star Popsicles and Three Dog Barkery, will set up shop around the plaza for adults, kids and dogs alike. Great music from The Southland Swing Band and of course tons of pumpkins.
The wonderful charities Paws In The City, DFW Rescue Me and Greyhound Adoption League of Texas will also be on hand featuring pet adoptions and information. Be sure to bring your four legged friends for a Halloween Costume Contest at 3 pm!
My gal pal model, actress, and host LeeAnne Locken will serve as emcee for this fun-filled fall celebration.
Admission is free and open to the public.
ONE ARTS PLAZA
Located in the heart of Dallas Arts District at the end of Flora Street (1722 Routh Street)
From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
You don’t want to miss this fun event
Start your holiday shopping early this year with some great sales online and in stores.
First up Banana Republic is offering an additional 40% off already reduced items. Time to stock up on summer essentials. The Gap is offering up to 40% off merchandise. Both sales run until July 4th, but I would hurry for the best selection.
Shopping tip: A few years ago I found out these stores display different sales prices at each store. Sounds crazy, but it all depends on what they have in stock. If you have some.time shop around. If you find the item cheaper at another Banana Republic or Gap simply return the item for the better deal. =”http://bitesofstyle.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/2012-06-28-14-24-34.jpg”> Tootsies in Dallas Photo Credit Toosties[/caption]tt
Next : Tootsies in Dallas is having a monster of a sale starting today.
Toosties carries designer brands and local designers, and at 60% off it’s worth making the trip to the big D. You might run into some of your favorite reality show stars like LeeAnne Locken from Big Rich Texas or other celebs. Somewhere there is a sale calling your name and I can’t wait to share what I find. Happy Hunting!!!
Other stores worth mentioning
Ann Taylor, Coldwater Creek and H&M are all having great sales as well.
The backstage of FLC was a MAD HOUSE. It looked like something out of a scene from NYC fashion week. Sure, it’s fun to look at clothes on the
runway, but the true fun and hard work of fashion shows happen backstage, with designers, stylists, models and make-up artists running around like mad to make it all look effortless and easy once it’s on the runway. I went behind the scenes at Fashion’s Living Canvas to sneak a peek before the show.
Hair and Make-Up
I had a make-up appointment with my favorite make-up artist Tiffiny Luong. I have organized charity fashion shows and modeled in a few, but the scene backstage was organized chaos. I found my seat between model Dawn Neufeld, model LeeAnne Locken and blogger Cynthia Smoot. I chatted with Dawn about life, pageants, and fashion.
Team Motives did a fantastic job on all the ladies and we looked gorgeous.”One team, one dream, shouted Tiffiny Luong.”
My first stop was Danh Ta for a peek at his collection. His collection was simply breathtaking.
Next: Red-I by Chelsea and her beautiful collection. Red-I-by Chelsea seems to bring out the DIVA in every women or man…
Click Here to see her gorgeous collection
Fashion’s Living Canvas brought out a flock of fashion editors, stylists, models and fans flaunting their best and brightest outfits, shoes and attitudes like proud peacocks. I spotted celebrities, fashionistas, and Dallas notables. Here are some of the most fashionable moments from the crowd.
Another crazy Thursday in the fashion world of Big D. Other Thursday’s have been busier, but this Thursday was the most interesting. I met some of the most amazing and intriguing people. I have met and interviewed celebrities such as , Tyra Banks, Designer Carmen Marc Valvo, Mark Cuban, Dallas Cowboys Player Miles Austin, and First lady Michelle Obama. All unique and interesting, but this Thursday I had the pleasure of meeting some very down to earth and equally amazing people.
First up: Tiffiny Team Motives Interview: I traveled through loads of suburban traffic to interview the extraordinary Mrs. Tiffiny from
Motives by Loren Ridinger Tiffiny has worked with Lala Anthony, Ivanka Trump, Kim Kardashian, and many others. I can’t wait to bring all my readers the tips, tricks and story of Mrs Tiffiny.
Next up: Modern Luxury Men of Style @ Neiman Marcus Downtown Dallas- I stayed with Tiffiny from Team Motives a bit too long, and was running fashionable late. I spotted LeeAnne Locken, Hamilton Sneed, and Cynthia Smoot partying and eyeing the tuna tartar. I was surprised how many people where actually eating food. Thanks to Marjon Zabihi ( PR Manager for Neiman Marcus Downtown Dallas) for having some delicious bites. Although I enjoyed the luscious cocktails, a little bit of beef goes a long way.
While at the party I spotted the lovely Courtney Kerr, Allison Volk and crew, and many other friends. My favorite DJ was mixing the tunes and the crowd was simply stunning. Being a party that focused on men’s fashions I wanted my look to be men’s wear inspired. I contemplated all week on wearing a bow tie, tux, or dress. I finally settled on designer Ann Taylor with a twist.
While at the party I ran into the King of Bow Ties Edward Armah. I was just reading about his story in Neiman Marcus Daily last month. He is charming and funny. I love bow ties and have always been intrigued with their sexy yet classic look. “Don’t worry I have been showing men how to tie these all night, says Armah.” I felt like a cute playboy bunny after being outfitted by Mr. Edward’s with one of his signature four-way ties. Edward has worked with almost everyone in the business, and is now selling his ties online and at Neiman Marcus stores. I can’t wait to bring you more juicy details about this stylish man.
Anne Fontaine Highland Park, Dallas: Glam in the City- Who knew Highland Park Village was the place to be on a Thursday night? The patios were filled with hungry guests and parking was nearly impossible. The Anne Fontaine store was full of beautiful people with beautiful clothing. The store is a classic french store with hints black and white luxury. I felt as if I had just stepped into a Parisian boutique. The visual manager deserves an A for the beautiful styling of the store. Some pieces where pricey, but as I continue to look around I found options in every price range. Of course the store was closing, but I can’t go back for some power shopping!!!
Marquee Grill in Highland Park Village: Most Celebrity Chefs aren’t in their restaurant’s anymore. We want even mention that Top Chef finalist, who had a restaurant in Fort Worth, but was always in CALIFORNIA. I wonder how she’s doing? Seems Chef Tre Wilcox knows he needs to be in his restaurant. We caught up for a few minutes and then off to meet my party. I spotted Hamilton Sneed and friends, and thus the charity conversations began. Hamilton talks so much about his signature cocktail that I have been dying to try one. It was refreshing and delicious.
Back to Marquee Grill, I love the contrast between day and night at Marquee Grill. The main dining room is white and plush, and the bar is dark with a sexy atmosphere. My guest and I tried the buffalo sliders, sushi and the fries. I must admit I ate way too many fries. Whether you go for drinks or dinner, Marquee Grill is the perfect place for a night-cap.
The Queen B in Dallas, and the King of Sass are teaming up next Tuesday for Fashion’s Living Canvas, powered by Team Motives Agency. The team of Abstract Method Marketing, and Fashion Junkie Styling Co. have put together a fashion extravaganza. If this event is not on your radar then you been sleeping under a very heavy rock. Click here to BUY A TICKET.
I sat down with the co-host’s to pick their brains about the upcoming show and each other. They are really quite a pair, and compliment each other very well. Steve Kemble’s events are dramatic with strong clean accents. Reminiscent of the eras of glitz and glam and finished with a dose of sass. Steve Kemble is a genius and a treasure to the state of Texas. Here’s hoping he never moves or the city will be in BIG trouble!! Although I have always been amazed by LeeAnne Locken, I now understand why she is well on her way to Oprah status. Along with being a successful model, and host she continues to top her own accomplishments on a daily basis.
In my job I meet a lot of fabulous people and some not so fabulous, but these two are authentic and fabulous. It was truly my pleasure to get inside the minds of the fabulous duo known as LeeAnne Locken and Steve Kemble
Brandy Voirin (BV): Why did you get involved with Fashion’s Living Canvas?
Steve Kemble (SK): “I got involved in Fashion’s Living Canvas through some very skillful arm twisting by Jarrod Fresquez of Abstract Method Marketing and Jai Okoli of Fashion Junkie!”
LeeAnne Locken(LL): “I love fashion, and working with Steve Kemble”
BV: What designers are you exciting about seeing at Fashion’s Living Canvas?
SK: “All the designers have a special flair they are bringing to the runway. I am most excited about seeing these awesome designers paired with the styling team led by Jai Okoli and the Fashion Junkie Styling Company. They have assured me we will see something Dallas has never seen before!”
BV: Which designer should be on everyone’s radar if you had to pick one?
SK: “I am really excited to see what accessories designer Red I by Chelsea and Danh Ta have up their sleeve to WOW us! I also cannot wait for Prashi Shah on the runway-a designer that keeps her items under lock and key until the very last-minute! LOVE! the suspense!”
LL: “ALL of them! I can’t just pick one.”
BV: What makeup colors and hair trends do you like for Spring?
SK: “I find that Motives Cosmetics stays on top of the all the hottest trends, I cannot wait to see what they bring to the stage at Fashions Living Canvas!“
LL: “I am a huge fan of the pastels for spring make-up! Rosy cheeks look good on everyone! And for hair, it’s a toss-up between a ponytail or parted down the middle with a gentle wave. Easy and simple!”
BV: Tell us one thing that we would be surprise to know about LeeAnne?
SK: “That SHE actually does sleep!”
BV: Same question LeeAnne?
LL: “Steve has the HUGEST HEART! I know that’s not a big surprise but if y’all really knew what an INCREDIBLY COMPASSIONATE person he is~ you would be shocked! For instance, the night he came to help me raise funds for Lauren Scruggs he was late, and that is NOT like Steve so I got worried! When he showed up he told me how he had just pulled kids out of a wrecked car on the way!! SEE!! COMPASSIONATE!!”
BV: How do you guys stay in shape?
SK: “I have a trainer, and do yoga three days a week.”
LL: “Eat Healthy.I have carbs early in the day, and protein at night.I also WORK OUT! It’s really about calories in vs. calories out. There are no short cuts to staying in shape.”
BV: What’s next for you guys?
SK: Next up for me is producing the events for the HP Byron Nelson Classic! Check out my blog www.adoseofsass where I post lots of wonderful news about the many charities I support. The women of Big D came out in full forces for the 15th Annual Attitudes & Attire Fashion Show. Spotted were flowing dresses, colorful wedges, and some of the prettiest spring fashions from Elements in Dallas.
There were many local notables in the audience and on stage. Amy Vanderoef from Good Morning Texas, LeeAnne Locken, Allison Volk and many more philanthropic women were also spotted on the catwalk.
Attitudes & Attire’s multi-tiered programs instill in women the resources necessary for gaining confidence and self-worth—enabling them to get back in the workplace. Attitudes & Attire workshops focus on self-esteem, communication skills, interview preparation and work ethic.
Attitudes & Attire founder Lyn Berman says, “We started in 1996 with 65 women and last year we served 1,600 women. We have six full-time staff and over 400 volunteers. Our clients, ranging in age from 15-65, are all below the poverty level. These women come from all ethnic groups and all walks of life, and for some reason, they have fallen through the cracks.”
Three clients spoke of how this organization changed their lives forever. Some had trouble past of drugs and alcohol, some victims of domestic violence, and some just victims of the economy. Each story different and powerful, and each with a happy ending. The tools Attitudes & Attire provide for their clients are life changing opportunities. I was honored to be a guest at this fabulous event. Bravo ladies, Bravo!!

GCB is far more comedic than it is dramatic. It revels in the twists and turns and depicts every reveal with the proper amount of gusto and absurdity. It certainly helps that all the actors are perfect.
At its heart, GCB is about facing the consequences of your actions, past and present, as well as exploring the hypocrisies that live within us all. It’s also about big hair, over-the-top wardrobe, and scandalous behavior, both real and perceived.
This is a soap after all. It’s fun, doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re into soap operas and enjoyed the antics of Erica Kane then you will love GC
Most of the fashions are winners, but some are NOT!!!
Here are my winners and losers
