This morning I went garage sale shopping with my son.. It was interesting, a lot of fun, and I actually scored a gorgeous ballroom skirt for fall..

The weekend only comes every 5 days so do something exciting and fun

Here are few tips from David

1.  Take the time to find the perfect seating plan for your guests.  A great host is a wonderful match maker.  Sometimes it is about love, but most of the time, it is about creating fabulous conversation and creating new friendships.  The Post-it note is the party planner’s best friend. Create a drawing of your table plan, write your guests names on the sticky notes and place them on the plan, moving them around until you find the perfect arrangement.

2.  Who needs tables during the summer?  Set up plush picnic blankets on the lawn replete with comfy pillows, bottles of wine,  glassware, and nibbles.  You can even bring your floral centerpiece to your blanket!  Invite your guests to kick off their shoes and enjoy!

Our Bites Of Style Motivational word for the week is confidence

Now do you have confidence? Boy I sure hope so, but at times it can be hard to muster up enough confidence to get the job done.

Confidence:  Full trust, belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities; self-confidence;self-reliance; assurance: trustworthiness 

From time to time we all have a few confidence issues, but we shouldn’t let that get in our way.. We were all creative to do great and wonderful things. I encourage each of you to have confidence to do something new and  amazing this week.

Here are a few tips to help you gain back your confidence

Recognize your insecurities. What does that voice in the back of your mind say? What makes you uncomfortable or ashamed of yourself? This could be anything from acne  to regrets,  friends at school or a past traumatic or negative experience. Whatever is making you feel unworthy, ashamed, or inferior, identify it, give it a name, and write it down.

Bounce back from your mistakes. Remember that no one is perfect. Even the most confident people have insecurities. At some point in any of our lives, we may feel we lack something. That is reality. Learn that life is full of bumps down the road. And that often these insecure feelings come and go.

Identify your successes. Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at whichyou excel, then focus on your talents.  Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes.

Now what does this all have to do with fashion? Well confidence is the best thing you can wear.

Our BOS Motivational Word For The Week is Giving

What does giving mean to you?

Giving – Freely transfer the possession of (something) to (someone);  hand over to: bestow ( love, affection or other emotional support)

Giving means so many things to me, but last month my heart was touched when I learned about a fashionable company called The Giving Keys.. I immediately read store after store about how people’s lives had been changed because of this company..

This story is about paying if forward and doing more for others. Which if you are a follower of mine you know this is truly what I love. This company spreads the message of being fearless, courage and always be giving..

I heard the founder Caitlin Crosby would be in NYC doing a trunk show and I immediately asked one of my fashion writers to try to score an interview.. Well she did and it is finally finished..  Caitlin is quite the charitable and philanthropic person. She knew off the bat she wanted to contribute to a charity, but wasn’t sure which until the day she met a homeless couple in California, whom she made an instant connection with. The couple helped make her decision easy, and it was then Caitlin knew she would help the homeless get back on their feet. The keys are now engraved with meaningful and inspirational words by the homeless looking to turn their lives around. When a key is purchased with the inspirational word of your choice, you wear it until you meet someone who could benefit from that word and you give it away- therefor paying it forward. Here’s a sneak peek from the article by Maria Crawford of Miss A

Our BOS Dallas Pick Of The Week : Remnant at Janette Kennedy Art Gallery 

Why: 2 Great Artist and all  proceeds from this event benefit the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center

‘Remnant’, a show of new work by Erika Jaeggli and Sonali Khatti, two Dallas-based artists. A remnant is the part that is left behind after the greater part has been used, removed, or destroyed. This idea is as applicable to fabric as it is to landscape and the passage of time. This exhibit will explore the concept of the remnant both literally and figuratively.

Artist Sonali Khatti,

Jaeggli and Khatti are both mixed-media artists who work with actual and metaphorical remnants. Khatti embeds remnants of fabric and uses photos from her own past as reference. Jaeggli paints allegorical landscapes using remnants of newspapers as her canvas and uses trees as metaphors for the human condition.

The exhibition will include new large and small works by both artists. The works will be visually compelling because their styles complement each other. Khatti’s work is ethereal and dream-like with color and composition dominating the canvas; Jaeggli’s work is, by contrast, more stark. They will be unified by the theme of the remnant, giving viewers an accessible starting point from which to discuss both artists’ work individually and as a group.

• If it’s a staple in your closet go for a higher quality version
• Always ask yourself how long you will use the item. I have purses in my closet that cost $400 to purse that cost $10.. Only you know how often you will use the item or if it will just end up on your bedroom floor.
• Lastly, if you aren’t going to be using the item right away, you can always wait until it goes on sale. I can’t tell you how many times I will buy an item ahead of time and not use it for at least a month or so.. Even though the item is on sale if you wait awhile it might get a further markdown.
• BOS Insider Tip Most stores mark down their clothing on Wednesday and Sunday nights. Shop early Wednesday morning or when the store is closing on Sunday for the best deals.
